Journey to the Center of the Earth

"Drawn by David Wyatt"

Given this piece of art, the first thing that came to my mind was the movie: Journey to the Center of the Earth. Although it also reminds of the anime One Piece, I am more knowledgeable in the movie I chose rather than the anime, so I picked the movie instead.

Journey to the center of the earth is about a young boy - son of a volcanologist - who found himself in the center of the earth - of course, as the title states it. The other protagonist - I forgot his name - is also a volcanologist, the uncle of the boy. When the boy was dropped off his uncle's place, her mom gave him a box full of his father's stuffs. The uncle then found a book that belonged to his brother. His brother was missing for ten years. After they found the book, the journey to the center of the earth - a novel with some notes made by his brother - they packed their bags and left. They followed the notes inside the book. They found themselves in a volcano crater. There, they found gems and diamonds, and encountered a lot of creatures - including extinct dinosaurs. They have discovered that within the center of the earth, another earth existed. More like an earthception - earth within the earth. Then they found the volcanologists' body. He was dead because of suffocation. They found another note that they must leave the place within a few hours because if they won't they will die too. To make the story short, they created a mini boat and used the volcanoes pressure - combining very cold water to boiling lava - to escape the volcano. When they managed to escape, they destroyed a farm. They gave the farm owner a diamond to compensate the destruction they have made. And so, they became rich. At the movie epilogue, the boy found another book about the lost city Atlantis.

At first I thought that this movie was for kids. But when you try to unveil roots of the film, you will discover something else. I thought the the book was just a made up for the movie, but it seems to be, the movie was based from the book. Because of the experience the movie gave me - I watched it in 3D - I became interested in 3D movies. The movie was shot for 3D so the visuals was admirable. I am looking forward for the sequel - Journey to the Mysterious Island. I will watch it also in 3D.
